Hi! I just found you thru "mcklinky" I think its awesome that you homeschool; I was from 3rd to 5th grade. and LOVED it. (I'm sure there WAS a valid reason why we stopped, but can't remember why at the moment.)
no kidding, watermelon IS THE BEST. you know what my friend told me, "If the pest-a-sides don't kill ya the taste will." Okaaay then. Guess he isn't a fan of watermelon.

Hi Kara Grace!

Glad you found my blog through McLinky. I'm not sure how many pesticides are on watermelon, but I don't really worry about that. I do know that the local watermelons I get at the farmer's market taste a lot better than the rubbery ones we've gotten from Wal-Mart. Kind of like their tomatoes...yuck!

I'm also glad you were homeschooled and happy you had such a good experience with it. People stop for many reasons - financial is a common one, and some parents feel inadequate to teach the upper grades. My oldest will be in sixth grade this year, and I have a third grader and one in K. It makes me tired just thinking about it! ;)
